The Production Technician assembles, fits, and mounts sub‑assemblies, components, and standard fixed assemblies in electrical control equipment. Responsibilities include wiring, assembling panelboards and switchboards to customer specifications using hand and power tools, and performing assembly required for test preparation and final inspection. The technician uses established power‑checking procedures and equipment to verify the electrical and mechanical integrity of each unit.
Quality assurance is maintained by inspecting and testing finished products to ensure conformity with specifications, codes, and company standards. The role also involves receiving and organizing material, preparing finished goods for shipment, and maintaining equipment, tools, and the work area according to 5S guidelines. The technician participates in Lean initiatives, suggesting improvements related to quality, processes, and environmental safety, and cross‑trains across functions as business needs evolve.
Candidates must have at least one year of assembly experience with hand or power tools, or a one‑year technical school diploma, and a high school diploma or GED. Preferred qualifications include CNC bus fabrication, press‑brake operation, experience reading wiring diagrams, and proficiency with measuring tools, torque tolerances, and various equipment such as forklifts and jib cranes. Physical requirements include regularly lifting 35 lb, working overtime as needed, and residing within 50 mi of the work location (military personnel exempt); no relocation assistance is offered.
