The Area Accountant, working under general direction, applies accounting principles to record, analyze, and monitor financial information. The role prepares accurate financial reports in compliance with company policies and may serve as a resource for accounting and administrative staff while handling a broad range of accounting duties.
Key duties include compiling and analyzing financial data to create journal entries, preparing monthly and quarterly performance reports, and ensuring internal controls meet Sarbanes‑Oxley and other statutory requirements. The accountant reconciles balance‑sheet accounts, oversees various accounting functions (invoice processing, billing, cash receipts, etc.), and supports budgeting, forecasting, and capital‑expenditure accounting.
The position assists with periodic internal and external audits, provides information to corporate departments such as tax, treasury, and legal, and performs other job‑related tasks as assigned.
Candidates must have solid accounting experience, thorough knowledge of GAAP, intermediate Excel skills, and the ability to research non‑standard issues to ensure policy compliance. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are required, along with experience using general‑ledger systems, preferably Oracle.
