Potomac Testing
Industry‑leading provider of low, medium & high‑voltage electrical equipment testing, engineering & field services.
Install, splice, and terminate medium voltage power cables (5-35kV) on projects.
Perform splicing and termination of shielded medium voltage power cables using hand-applied tape applications, separable connectors, and pre-manufactured kits, including pre-molded, heat-shrink, and cold-shrink technologies.
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions including intense heat/cold, muddy and wet environments.
Conduct testing procedures on spliced cables to verify functionality and adherence to industry standards.
Identify and report any equipment issues to ensure proper functionality.
Implement and adhere to strict safety practices to create a secure working environment.
Collaborate with project teams to execute cable splicing and termination activities efficiently.
Perform precision tasks with instruments and fittings.
Climb ladders, staircases, step stools, stand, walk, sit, and operate vehicles for extended periods.
Conduct regular safety assessments and inspections, with a preference for confined space training.
Ensure the quality of splicing work meets regulatory and company standards.
Ensure accurate and secure connections to support the reliable operation of electrical systems

Proven experience as a Medium Voltage Cable Splicer with a focus on safety and precision.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Confined space training is preferred.
Proficient use of various tools associated with cable work including cable tuggers, rigging, hydraulic crimp tools and cutters, calipers, and knives/stripping tools
Strong attention to detail and precision in cable splicing activities.
Lift, carry and/or move up to 75 pounds repeatedly.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with a variety of splicing techniques and technologies.
Hold a valid Certificate from the National Cable Splicing Termination Board (NCSCB) for splicing and terminating shielded medium voltage power cables (Preferred).
Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings
Communicate verbally and in writing.
Bend, stoop, crawl and work in awkward positions or confined spaces for several hours.
