The Superintendent 2 plans, manages, and executes all aspects of assigned projects with some complexity, overseeing material, equipment, people, and documentation to achieve timely and profitable completions. This role supports JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values, makes decisions within defined authority limits, and follows a career path toward Superintendent 3.
- Lead safety culture, investigate incidents, and mentor staff toward an injury‑free environment.
- Manage subcontractors and organize overall job workflow.
- Oversee company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs such as Safety, Quality, and EEO.
- Develop work plans for subcontractors and self‑performed work.
- Coordinate and control the project site’s care, custody, and security.
- Conduct daily stand‑up and weekly trade meetings.
- Participate in progress and OAC meetings.
- Create, adjust, and implement the project schedule with the Project Manager.
- Track and monitor project budget and costs using the project management system.
- Communicate key project information to owners, design team, authorities, and vendors.
- Maintain project documentation, including drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection notebooks.
- Approve unit‑cost data and generate daily and weekly reports.
- Evaluate self‑perform work progress and make necessary adjustments.
- Manage material and equipment procurement and logistics.
- Support MOC and DLSC procurement processes and select necessary tools and equipment.
- Approve timecards and ensure accurate cost coding.
- Ensure quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC standards, and external resources.
- Supervise pre‑punch activities and coordinate project closeout with owners and architects.
- Participate in project pre‑planning, staffing, and schedule/cost change monitoring.
- Negotiate project changes with owners and architects.
- Recruit top talent and promote diversity and inclusion throughout the organization.
- Manage stand‑alone projects from start to finish, handling scheduling, production, safety, and quality.
- Identify, assess, and actively manage project risks.
- Provide problem‑solving recommendations for team implementation.
- Coordinate deliverables from internal resources such as IPS and logistics.
- Contribute to project pursuits and negotiation processes.

The position requires a high‑school diploma or GED (bachelor’s degree in construction management preferred), 5+ years of construction experience, and 3+ years of field‑supervision experience, with Lean principles knowledge as a plus. A valid, unrestricted driver’s license, ability to lift up to 50 lb, and willingness to work non‑traditional hours, travel, and handle extreme conditions are essential.
- Perform work accurately, completely, and on time.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and deliver presentations.
- Proficient in MS Office, scheduling software, and project management/accounting tools.
- Apply construction management fundamentals, Lean principles, and knowledge of trades, self‑perform productivity, crane flagging, rigging, and layout.
