Description

The Reliability Engineering Intern will support refinery initiatives with a strong focus on mechanical integrity and inspection, spending part of the time in the field where exposure to moving mechanical parts, heights, and outdoor conditions may occur. Physical activities include climbing, standing, crawling, confined‑space entry, and maneuvering through operating process units, all while wearing required personal protective equipment. The role also involves documenting detailed reports, participating in committees, and learning to track, monitor, and justify projects to build solid training experience.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment by following safety procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Troubleshoot equipment, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to resolve system failures.
• Participate in technical investigations, design, and performance analysis to identify deficiencies and improvement opportunities with senior engineers.
• Develop, select, and test equipment and components to evaluate best‑in‑class technology systems.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams on root‑cause analysis and effective solutions to prevent recurrence.
• Oversee mechanical and instrumentation equipment to generate critical equipment lists, update P&IDs, and maintain specifications.
• Plan, design, and write specifications for process equipment.
• Work independently and as part of cross‑functional teams to continuously improve supply‑chain performance and customer satisfaction.
• Create and prepare reports, type documents, and file records.

Requirements

• Junior or senior pursuing a BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 3.00.
• Availability to work at least 40 hours per week with overtime as needed.
• Basic knowledge of industrial equipment.
• Familiarity with SDS and safety protocols in a mechanical environment.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to record and present data clearly and concisely.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness for continual learning and self‑development.
• Experience with industrial operations.
• Demonstrated adaptability and desire for learning.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with plant personnel, vendors, and corporate colleagues.
• Professional communication and judgment.
