This role enables you to apply expertise in materials, structural analysis, steel and reinforced‑concrete design as part of an engineering and design team working on power transmission modifications and upgrades. You will create calculations, design documents, and specifications to support client recommendations and reviews.
You will tackle challenging assignments that involve investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a variety of structural engineering issues. Responsibilities include performing structural analysis and detailed design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment, and foundations, as well as developing integrated designs and supporting calculations for planned work.
The position requires frequent direct interaction with clients to communicate technical information, prepare technical specifications, and conduct independent reviews of calculations and drawings. You will coordinate with engineers, project managers, client personnel, and suppliers to ensure complete and timely designs, and you will travel to client and vendor offices and substation sites for design reviews and field verification.
Required qualifications include a BSCE or MSCE from an ABET‑accredited program, at least ten years of structural engineering experience on electrical substation projects, strong communication skills, and proficiency with analysis software and design codes such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318. Preferred credentials are a PE license and experience designing light‑industrial structures.
