The Site Manager will lead health and safety on‑site, maintaining offices, welfare facilities, loading areas and roadways, ensuring compliance with the site HSE plan, conducting inductions, risk assessments and reporting accidents, incidents and near‑misses promptly.
In addition, the role includes responsibility for quality assurance, maintaining accurate records, overseeing Inspection and Test Plans via BIM, generating daily diaries, managing non‑conforming reports and monitoring workmanship to meet the project’s QA/QC standards.
The Site Manager will coordinate programme activities, develop short‑term sub‑contractor programmes, report daily progress and delays, and ensure that all visitors are inducted and possess the required certifications.
Commercially, the manager must understand drawings, specifications and sub‑contractor scopes, provide site records for cost control, manage material deliveries and obtain approvals for daywork and sub‑contractor instructions, while maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and statutory authorities.
- Maintain and upkeep JJR team offices, welfare facilities, subcontractor areas, loading zones and site roadways.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety plans, including inductions, method statements, risk assessments and timely reporting of accidents and near‑misses.
- Conduct bi‑weekly safety inspections and address H&S issues on the spot.
- Keep accurate records and prepare/implement Inspection and Test Plans using BIM.
- Generate daily diaries, record labour hours, create and close non‑conforming reports (NCRs) and site‑specific QA sheets.
- Monitor workmanship and enforce QA/QC standards throughout the build.
- Develop short‑term sub‑contractor programmes and provide input for weekly progress reports.
- Identify and communicate any programme delays and their causes.
- Verify that all site entrants have valid RAMS, CSCS cards, certificates and sufficient English proficiency; conduct visitor inductions.
- Manage material deliveries, record goods received notes and ensure day‑work sheets are approved before signing.
- Obtain project manager and quantity surveyor approval for all subcontractor instructions.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, consultants, building control and other statutory bodies.
- Support your manager and team, uphold the JJR brand standards and assist with reporting as required.
