The Janitorial Supervisor coordinates, schedules, and supervises building and facility cleaning staff, ensuring offices, hallways, stairs, and other areas remain clean and orderly. The role may also include oversight of basic maintenance and grounds clean‑up.
- Supervise, schedule, and assign daily interior cleaning tasks such as waste removal, floor care, dusting, restroom restocking, and window cleaning.
- Inspect completed work, issue supplies/equipment, and manage inventory to maintain adequate material levels.
- Assist with screening, hiring, training, performance reviews, and recommend promotions, transfers, or dismissals.
- Prepare and present reports on room occupancy, hours worked, staff assignments, tasks performed, and department expenses.
- Supervise and schedule exterior cleaning, snow removal, and basic maintenance of building exteriors, parking areas, landscaping, and related structures.
- Assign staff to perform minor maintenance and repairs including painting, light replacement, window replacement, furniture moves, door repairs, landscaping, and simple plumbing.
- Oversee additional duties such as gardening, outdoor furnishings upkeep, inventory control, tenant move assistance, and snow removal.
- Respond promptly to spills, emergencies, repairs, lighting issues, equipment failures, plumbing problems, HVAC concerns, and other safety issues.
- Ensure safe operation and proper training for cleaning equipment, snow‑removal tools, power tools, and chemical agents to protect people and the environment.
- Organize and maintain Safety Data Sheets, train staff on Hazard Communication, and enforce appropriate safety gear and environmentally‑friendly disposal.
- Communicate effectively with staff and management.
- Maintain attention to detail and thoroughness in all duties.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve cleaning and maintenance goals.
- Operate floor machines and other cleaning equipment.
- Apply basic mechanical knowledge to minor repairs.
- Execute work orders and coordinate scheduling for staff.
- Supervise while fostering collaborative teamwork.
- Stoop, stand, climb, and regularly lift a minimum of 50 lb of equipment.
- Crouch and reach to install or move equipment, bending at the waist or legs.
- Move between departments, floors, and properties to facilitate work.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED (preferred) and at least two years of related experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity. A valid Massachusetts driver’s license, the ability to lift up to 50 lb, and basic mechanical knowledge are required.
The position operates in a professional office setting with regular travel between properties in varying weather conditions. Physical demands include stooping, standing, climbing, and routinely lifting equipment weighing at least 50 lb, as well as frequent crouching, reaching, and moving across multiple floors.
