The Manufacturing Engineering Technician assists with the installation, qualification, troubleshooting, and improvement of manufacturing equipment to meet throughput, yield, and product performance goals.
- Assist in installation and qualification of manufacturing equipment.
- Troubleshoot day‑to‑day manufacturing and equipment issues.
- Identify and implement system improvements to increase throughput, yield, and product performance.
- Solve production, equipment, and process problems on the manufacturing line.
- Develop methods to assign causes to yield excursions.
- Set up, calibrate, and maintain gauges.
- Monitor and respond to SPC process control alarms to restore process stability.
- Execute planned process experiments, collect and analyze data, and report results.
- Gather daily tool performance data and correlate with product performance.
- Support pilot‑line equipment operation for new process definition.
- Transition new equipment and processes through start‑up, qualification, and implementation.
- Provide training to production associates on equipment and processes.
- Create and update internal documentation such as drawings, SOPs, and process specifications.
- Coordinate with internal teams and supplier representatives to complete projects.
- Maintain effective communication with production associates and manufacturing engineers.
- Disposition non‑conforming product according to established criteria.
- Adhere to all safety procedures, good housekeeping, and proper waste handling.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and candidates must have either an associate degree in a technical discipline, two or more years of machine or mechanic experience, one year of First Solar technical experience, or six months as a Temporary Manufacturing Engineering Technician at First Solar.
The role requires a safety‑first mindset, general electrical/electronic and mechanical knowledge, the ability to work self‑directed with minimal supervision, strong written and oral English communication skills, and the capability to troubleshoot line problems while handling both administrative and technical tasks.
- Meet physical requirements: standing, walking, lifting up to 58 lb occasionally, climbing stairs, and wearing required PPE.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent; qualify via an associate degree in a technical field or relevant machine/mechanic experience.
- Demonstrate general electrical/electronic and mechanical knowledge and a safety‑first mindset.
- Work self‑directed with minimal supervision and possess strong written and oral English communication skills.
Benefits
The position reports to the Manager‑Manufacturing Engineering, has no direct reports, requires no travel, offers an hourly wage of $18.89‑$26.44 plus 6% benefits, and involves physical duties such as standing, walking, lifting, climbing stairs, and wearing required personal protective equipment.
