Description

The Senior Structural Engineer role focuses on transit facilities and buildings, supporting rail and light‑rail projects across the United States and Canada. Although the position is based in Denver, Colorado, it can be performed virtually anywhere in the US Western Region, including Pacific, Mountain, and possibly Central time zones.

Engineers will design and analyze structures such as pedestrian bridges, walkways, overpasses, underground facilities, and other mass‑transit related assets. Deliverables include specifications, engineering calculations, material take‑offs, cost estimates, surveys, and design packages that move from planning through proposal to construction phases.

Key responsibilities include defining project scope, budgeting, scheduling, providing technical direction, and reporting progress. The role also entails producing detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, and technical reports, while potentially supervising junior staff and guiding BIM designers.

• Develop engineering designs and analyses for rail/transit facilities, including bridges, overpasses, and underground structures.
• Produce specifications, calculations, drawings, procurement documents, and cost estimates from concept through construction.
• Define project scope, budgets, schedules, and provide technical direction while reporting status to stakeholders.
• Supervise junior engineers and provide guidance to BIM designers, drafters, and designers.
• Utilize BIM/Revit, MS Office, and Bluebeam for design documentation and coordination.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with at least eight years of relevant experience; a Master’s degree is desirable. A Professional Engineer license is preferred, or the ability to obtain one within a year, and proficiency with BIM/Revit, MS Office, and Bluebeam is required.

• Apply concrete and steel design principles for gravity and lateral loads; knowledge of CMU and light‑gauge metal construction.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (8+ years experience); Master’s preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year.
• Proficiency with BIM/Revit and structural analysis software.
• Experience in concrete and steel building design; familiarity with CMU and light‑gauge metal.
• Transit facility design experience a plus.
• Ability to work virtually across US Western time zones.
