Test products using various tools like computer software, surface mount technology (SMT), electrical equipment (such as oscilloscopes and multi-meters) and specific testing techniques (such as smoke boxes, heat tunnels, environmental chambers, etc.).
Ensure that there is a clean, safe, and organized common workspace.
Create and execute testing and validation procedures for each product assigned.
Maintain installation instructions and manuals in the lab.
On occasions, this role will be required to climb ladders and stairs with or without reasonable accommodations.
Guarantee that the product tests meet agency requirements. (Agencies include UL, ULC, FM, CSFM, FCC, CE, EN-54, and CCCF.
Testing Edwards Fire Systems with a focus on devices ensuring all product operations and functionality.
Review and thoroughly understand product schematics and client requirements for the fire detection products including smoke, CO, and heat sensors for commercial and residential markets. Also, fire notification products that include strobes, sounders and speakers.
Record all testing processes and log all defects in the HPQC.
Ensure that each electrical component, system and even testing equipment are properly functioning in excellent condition.
Archive test processes and results.
Collaborate with other test engineers as well as the design engineers on various product. development projects in order to maintain constant communication among teams.
Assist in the maintenance of the testing lab, ensuring that the lab equipment and system samples are organized.
Use HPQC (Hewitt Packard Quality Center) testing procedures to develop programs for hardware and software operation.
Troubleshoot with the engineering department when issues are found when testing.
Maintain all assigned test plans and schedules for assigned projects.

General understanding of engineering equipment like soldering irons, hand-held power tools.
Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
HS Diploma or GED.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A. without restrictions.
Expert on Microsoft Office (especially Excel and macros in Excel).
Interpersonal skills to work with several departments, including engineering and production.
Excellent self-task management/prioritization and documentation skills in a R&D or testing lab environment.
Experience with JIRA software.
Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills with little to no supervision.
Understands how to read and interpret schematics.
2+ years of experience working in an engineering test lab and testing various electrical devices and components.
Understanding of how to use sound measurements, light measurements, smoke tunnels, fire test rooms, smoke boxes, heat tunnels, CO chambers, etc.
Basic knowledge of low voltage electronics.
Knowledge of the fire and safety industry.
