Under the management of the Associate Director, the Rental Assistance Coordinator will strengthen housing stability and prevent homelessness for opportunity youth aged 18 to 25 within the Housing & Support Services Department and Workforce Development Programs. The role involves collaborating with staff across departments to assess housing needs, connect youth to appropriate resources, and provide high‑touch case management services such as housing navigation, rental assistance, and childcare.
The Coordinator is accountable for improving housing outcomes, health, and wellness for program participants, building on the partnership with Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services to link current and former foster youth to the AB12 extended foster care program and other housing referrals. They will track housing stability through placement outcomes, staff observations, and retention metrics using CRCD’s Salesforce system, producing quarterly and annual reports. Additionally, the Coordinator will work directly with landlords, guide youth through the housing search and move‑in process, develop individualized action plans focused on timely rent payment, and mediate any lease‑related issues.
- Work with youth to assist in housing support, provide case management, and facilitate referrals to Workforce Development and community resources.
- Provide housing stabilization services and follow up with landlords at least every other week.
- Build on existing relationships with CRCD, DCFS, LAHSA, private landlords, and other agencies to strengthen housing outcomes.
- Establish and cultivate relationships with landlords and housing providers to create a portfolio of options for youth.
- Act as liaison among property managers, property management companies, youth, and staff to communicate concerns that could jeopardize residency.
- Provide youth with information on Fair Housing, tenant rights, and responsibilities under rental agreements and property rules.
- Assist youth in obtaining rental assistance, move‑in, and eviction‑prevention services.
- Address tenant grievances, mediate disputes, and resolve issues with property management affecting tenancy.
- Conduct wellness checks and housing inspections in collaboration with the Property Manager.
- Monitor clients who have moved into housing and prepare those ready to transition to mainstream non‑supportive housing.
- Coordinate transportation for youth to attend apartment viewings.
- Participate in care coordination meetings and other CRCD service provider meetings.
- Input timely and accurate data into HMIS, CHAMP, and Salesforce with the Program Manager and L&E Team.
- Compile and submit quarterly or annual reports tracking client status and supportive services.
- Maintain accurate client case files containing all required housing documents.
- Attend assigned staff development training.
- Travel to multiple sites to provide services and support.
- Complete, maintain, and self‑audit all case files, including daily/weekly tracking of notes, service delivery, and progress toward outcomes.
- Create database profiles, enter data, and compile reports tracking client progress and support services.
