The HD Services Senior Design Engineer is responsible for providing changes, modifications, and uprates (CM&U) to heavy‑duty gas turbine equipment ranging from 50 to 500 MW. This includes design work on accessories, flange‑to‑flange connections, and balance‑of‑plant systems, offering a broad and cross‑functional scope for a self‑motivated engineer.
Key duties involve developing and applying technical engineering designs through the CM&U process for units past their commercial operation date, while supporting testing, manufacturing, commissioning, and operation. The role requires mechanical, vibration, and flow analysis to customize hardware and systems, and close collaboration with internal engineering teams, manufacturing personnel, and external suppliers to improve product quality and project financial margins.
The engineer will estimate implementation cycles, design next‑generation products that balance performance, cost, and reliability, and work with GE Vernova Gas Power teams, field personnel, and customers to perform root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for reliability or performance issues. Additional responsibilities include driving variable‑cost reductions, promoting standard product usage, and visiting turbine power‑plant sites to coordinate with customers on emergent field issues.
Candidates must have at least 10 years of experience in mechanical, chemical, or a related engineering discipline and a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Required expertise includes mechanical stress, structural evaluation, flow analysis, and proficiency with tools such as AUTOPIPE, FLOINHANCE, ANSYS (CFD & FEA), STADD, and HYSYS. Strong communication skills, a self‑starter attitude, system‑level thinking, and the ability to mentor early‑career engineers are also essential.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $113,200 to $188,800, geographic differentials, discretionary annual bonuses, and relocation assistance. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage, a 24/7 health coach, employee assistance program, 401(k) with company match, tuition and adoption assistance, paid parental leave, disability and life insurance, 12 paid holidays, and permissive time‑off.
