The Tower Technician II installs, maintains, and operates wired, wireless, fiber‑optic, and microwave telecom equipment. You will follow MasTec’s health, safety, and environmental policies as well as industry standards such as OSHA, TIA‑10‑48, NATE CTS, and ANSI. Daily duties include climbing towers, erecting various tower types, handling material, preparing sites, and assisting with antenna and transmission‑line installations.
- Install, maintain, and operate wired, wireless, fiber‑optic, and microwave telecommunications equipment.
- Follow MasTec health, safety, and environmental policies and industry standards (OSHA, TIA‑10‑48, NATE CTS, ANSI).
- Climb towers and ladders to perform installations and inspections.
- Erect various tower types, including monopoles, self‑support, and guyed towers.
- Off‑load material, manage inventory, and prepare/clean job sites.
- Install new carriers on new‑build and existing towers.
- Assist with tower erection using helicopters, cranes, and gin poles.
- Assemble tower structures and install microwave, VHF, UHF, cellular, and FM broadcast antennas.
- Install transmission lines, foam/air dielectric coaxial, hardline, and elliptical waveguide.
- Perform foundation, grounding, conduit, and electrical installations as needed.
- Mentor less‑experienced technicians.
