Provide training, active support and documentation to allow key personnel to operate the installed systems with confidence.
Tailor systems to support both internal and external customer requirements when requested. Integration with DAQ systems to ensure data integrity, maintain test parameters and set alarms.
Lead in producing and delivering a development and implementation plan that addresses the future business obsolesce issues and necessary upgrading of the OREC PLC/SCADA control systems within the facilities.
To work with the engineering and test teams to produce control systems and displays that are intuitive to work, informative and provide ease of operation.
To work with the wider Research and Engineering team to mitigate risks in all actions and operations related to equipment and facilities.
Data analysis and instrumentation integration with control systems.
Review the status of the control systems both hardware and software based within the Blyth site and report annually on the status within each individual facility

Educated to at least degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.
Sound knowledge of electrical/mechanical generating plant and apparatus.
Advanced knowledge of Functional Safety Systems and Risk Management frameworks, IEC 61508, 61511, 62061, etc.
Ability to prioritise and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with advanced specialist engineering software in an inter-disciplinary project setting.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Experience of design and development of PLC/SCADA control systems in accordance with current European Standards and best engineering practice.
Knowledge of and the application of good practice engineering design procedures and tools.
Experience of Health & Safety, Environment & Quality within an ISO 45001, ISO14001, ISO9001, ISO17025 environment.
Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail with an eye for data.
Strong ability to present to key stakeholders at a senior level.
Chartered Engineer / equivalent or working towards professional status.
