Assistant Estimator/Estimator - General Infrastructure

Description

• Support the preparation of cost models, cost breakdown structures (CBS) under guidance.
• Collaborate with strategic sourcing, contract management, and project teams to ensure accuracy of cost plans.
• Use cost planning and estimating software (e.g., Cost-X, CANDY) and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for analysis and reporting.
• Contribute to cost analysis, competitive benchmarking, and presentation of findings to internal teams.
• Assist in developing detailed and accurate cost plans and estimates for construction activities (civil, mechanical, electrical) within infrastructure and transport projects.
• Engage in continuous professional development and support knowledge-sharing within the team.
• Conduct quantity take-offs and input data into BoQ.
• Maintain strong attention to detail and accuracy in all deliverables.
• Support the implementation of Arcadis’ sustainability and carbon reduction strategies in cost planning.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation with support.
• Engage with suppliers and evaluate quotations.
• Maintain a database of cost costing and vendor information.

Requirements

• Experience in project cost planning for regulated companies.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and project documents.
• Experience with low-code/no-code platforms to automate workflows, streamline data management, and support digital transformation initiatives.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with relevant cost estimating software and data analysis tools (CANDY and Cost X).
• Membership or working towards membership of a professional body (CIOB, RICS, ICE, etc.).
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Degree or working towards a degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Good understanding of standard methods of measurement (CESMM 4).
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Ability to collaborate in small teams and work independently.
• Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Min 2 years (Assistant level) and 4 years (Estimator) experience in cost planning and estimating within infrastructure, transportation, or electricity transmission sectors.
• Eligible for national security vetting (BPSS, SE) depending on project requirements.
• Proficiency in using relevant data analysis and visualisation tools software (Power-Bi and Tableau).
