Directional Drill Operator/Locator

Description

The role involves locating and operating horizontal directional drills to install coax and fiber systems, reading utility locates, coordinating daylighting, and transporting heavy equipment to and from job sites. Safety of the public and existing underground utilities is paramount.

• Locate and set up horizontal directional drilling equipment for underground conduit and fiber optic installations.
• Operate the directional bore in coordination with the drill locator to install coax and fiber systems.
• Read utility maps and coordinate daylighting to protect existing underground facilities.
• Transport and position heavy equipment to and from job sites daily.
• Maintain strict safety standards for the public and other utility infrastructure.
• Interpret project maps, drawings, and diagrams accurately.

Requirements

Candidates should have at least two years of urban utility directional drilling experience, be proficient with Vermeer or Ditch Witch drills, hold a valid Class A CDL with a clean record, and be able to read maps and diagrams. The position offers $25‑$35 per hour, 401(k) match, ESPP, insurance, paid time off, and other benefits.
