Mechanical Design Engineer

Description

• Collaborate with suppliers to source components and optimize cost-effective solutions.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including product management, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
• Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Perform tolerance analysis and ensure manufacturability of designs.
• Iterate designs based on test results and stakeholder feedback.
• Maintain compliance with industry standards and internal quality processes.
• Conduct mechanical testing for durability, load capacity, and safety compliance.
• Build and evaluate prototypes to validate design concepts.
• Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
• Conceptualize, design, and develop mechanical components and assemblies for Murphy bed lock systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of safety standards and ergonomic considerations.
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical principles.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience with locking mechanisms or similar mechanical systems.
• 3+ years in mechanical design, preferably in consumer products or furniture hardware.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
