Key responsibilities include maintaining personal, crew, and job‑site safety at all times and participating in training on new products, installation methods, and safety protocols. Installers review inventory at the loading dock to ensure trucks are properly stocked, then layout and assemble solar modules, racking, mechanical mounts, and electrical equipment according to the project plan. Additional duties involve applying weather sealing, performing site clean‑up, and ensuring a tidy work environment for both the client and the installation vehicle.
Successful candidates may have prior solar, construction, or military experience, though it is not required. They must adhere to safety policies, identify and report hazards, and encourage safe practices among teammates. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for courteous interactions with customers and coworkers, and the ability to meet deadlines and metrics in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented setting is crucial.
The role demands physical capabilities such as transporting materials up to 50 lb frequently (up to 100 lb with assistance), working on rooftops with various angles, climbing ladders, and operating in diverse outdoor conditions—including extreme heat, cold, and humidity. Installers must perform fine‑motor tasks, navigate confined spaces like attics and crawl spaces, and use personal protective equipment such as fall‑protection harnesses. Additional requirements include color differentiation, hearing verbal commands, and safe handling of chemicals.
