The Project Engineer will drive execution across the full development lifecycle of autonomous unmanned aerial systems, bridging engineering, manufacturing, flight test, and program execution. This role translates system goals into clear engineering plans, tracks deliverables and risks, and supports hands‑on integration and flight activities. Candidates should thrive in fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environments and take pride in delivering platforms that successfully fly from concept to production.
- Manage technical maturity of UAS systems from concept through production, aligning with timelines, budgets, and milestones.
- Lead and support formal design reviews (SDR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PRR) while enabling rapid iteration cycles.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across aero performance, mechanical, electrical, autonomy, software, propulsion, manufacturing, and flight test.
- Translate mission and system specifications into derived requirements, interface definitions, and architecture documentation.
- Maintain system architecture artifacts and interface control documents, supporting agile development and configuration management.
- Conduct technical reviews for structural analysis, aerodynamic assessment, subsystem integration, avionics, and flight test plans.
- Define verification and validation methods; develop test assets such as HIL setups, ground rigs, instrumentation, and data pipelines.
- Identify and communicate technical and program risks, airworthiness considerations, and integration issues to stakeholders.
- Improve engineering workflows, systems engineering practices, digital tools, and agile execution structures.
- Develop and execute ground and flight test procedures, instrumentation strategies, and rapid data analysis loops.
- Support and participate in flight test operations, including integration, troubleshooting, and post‑flight assessments.
- Ensure safety, airworthiness, and compliance with FAA Part 107 and COA regulations.
- Coordinate with suppliers, government partners, and mission users to align development with operational needs.
- Prepare technical reports, milestone packages, risk briefings, and readiness summaries for leadership and defense stakeholders.
