Description

Context: Act as Engineer on a variety of engineering, transportation and infrastructure design projects. Working within budgets, programmes and quality assurance, as part of a small team, in the delivery of client projects.

Missions/Main Duties: Prepare outline and detailed design for multi or single disciplinary projects as required. Follow and check procedures throughout project delivery. Report updates to senior Engineers, technical leads and the project management team on project progress. Apply procedures and systems to ensure the safety of staff and others affected by the operations of SYSTRA throughout design lifecycle. Contribute to company‑wide goals and business improvement. Additional responsibilities include accompanying senior Engineers on bridge surveys and assisting in compiling reports and recommendations, interacting with internal disciplines, Project Managers and Engineers for project delivery, liaising with clients, joint venture partners and external contractors, attending client meetings, and interfacing with other disciplines and external Engineers to ensure a multi‑disciplinary design is developed when appropriate.

• Prepare outline and detailed designs for multi‑disciplinary projects.
• Follow and verify project procedures throughout delivery.
• Report progress to senior engineers, technical leads and project managers.
• Apply safety procedures to protect staff and stakeholders during the design lifecycle.
• Assist senior engineers with bridge surveys and compile report recommendations.
• Coordinate with internal disciplines, project managers and external contractors.
• Liaise with clients and joint‑venture partners, attending meetings as needed.
• Ensure multidisciplinary design integration with external engineering teams.
• Produce quality outputs adhering to relevant standards and best practice.

Requirements

Profile/Skills: Good knowledge and experience within own discipline with awareness of the impact of other relevant or interfacing disciplines. Knowledge of construction principles and standards relevant to own discipline. Experience as a design engineer under supervision with responsibilities for deliverables within a work package/project. Production of quality deliverables in line with relevant standards and best practice. Awareness of commercial and contract conditions as they relate to budgets and timescales. Experience/knowledge of CDM and CSM Regulations. Familiarity with bridge calculation software such as MIDAS, SuperSTRESS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design is desirable. Degree (BEng/MEng) in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent) and Graduate Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., ICE or IStructE).

• Possess solid knowledge of own engineering discipline and related construction standards.
• Experience delivering design deliverables under supervision within a work package.
• Understand commercial and contract conditions affecting budgets and timelines.
• Familiarity with CDM and CSM regulations.
• Knowledge of bridge calculation software (e.g., MIDAS, SuperSTRESS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design) is desirable.
• Hold a BEng/MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Graduate membership of a recognised professional body (ICE or IStructE).
