The Newcastle upon Tyne ecologist will provide ecological input across multiple sectors, lead field surveys for protected species and habitats, and manage the resulting data. Responsibilities include planning and coordinating surveys, analysing results using biodiversity net gain or natural capital approaches, designing mitigation measures and preparing a range of ecological reports and licence applications. The role also involves managing enquiries, preparing bids, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Ideal candidates will hold or be on the route to CIEEM membership, have a degree in ecology or a related science (or equivalent experience), and possess level‑3 UK habitat survey skills and protected‑species survey experience. A solid understanding of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy and biodiversity net gain is required, together with strong report‑writing, communication and collaborative abilities. A full, valid UK driving licence is also essential.
