Assist with research, analysis, and documentation relating to changes to payroll regulation, policies, and legislation, as required
Stay informed of developments in applicable federal and provincial laws, regulations and reporting requirements relating to salaries, wages, overtime, bonuses, provincial health plans and workers compensation
Overcome obstacles to getting the job done, identify problems and recommend solutions
Respond to internal inquiries regarding payroll, deductions and tax forms
Assist with developing and delivering training for timekeepers at sites
Assist with generating recurring & ad-hoc reports for payroll-related information
Collaborate with the People + Culture department regarding processes for new hires, vacation tracking, terminations, etc.
Review payroll registers to ensure accuracy in semi-monthly and bi-weekly payments
Empowerment: Use the means provided to carry out responsibilities to the best of your ability and to implement creative ideas
Consistently maintain payroll-related information in ADP
Support various departments and sites with queries regarding payroll, pension and benefit variance analysis & reconciliations
Managing and updating payroll records, including ROEs, in Payroll/HRIS system (ADP Workforce Now)
Preparing and processing bi-weekly, semi-monthly payroll ensuring accuracy & compliance and meeting transmission timelines

Excellent customer service and communication skills
Experience with Workers’ Compensation policies and processes
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and resolve issues
Proficiency in HRIS systems (ADP preferred)
High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
Communicate clearly, concisely, professionally and convey active listening and openness
Comfortable working in a dynamic environment and embracing continuous improvement
Familiarity with pension and benefit legislation is an asset
Produce accurate work with attention to detail and consistently meet deadlines
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, HR, Business Administration, or a related field
3–5 years of payroll experience supporting employee groups across multiple provinces
Advanced working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Access)
See change positively and adapt quickly to change in work requirements
Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to frequent changes
