

X-energy develops advanced nuclear reactors for clean, reliable energy production.
The role supports X-energy’s small modular reactor licensing efforts, including work on the Xe-100 projects. The individual will lead strategic domestic and international projects related to business development, regulatory and policy analysis, safety and environmental licensing strategy, application preparation, and construction strategy. This position requires coordination across organizations, engagement with federal and state regulators, direct client support, and participation in industry working groups.
Typical tasks involve supporting licensing activities such as certifications, permits, approvals, and licenses for reactor technologies, ensuring milestones are met with the U.S. NRC. The incumbent will assist engineers in developing technical requirements, create licensing content for safety analysis reports, and help plan and execute X-energy’s licensing strategy. Additional responsibilities include developing regulatory white papers, technical reports, budgeting licensing plans, and upholding the company’s safety culture and quality assurance program.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related science (mechanical, nuclear, electrical, physics, etc.) and relevant licensing experience: Level III (≈5 years), Level IV (≈10 years), or Level V (≈15 years). Preferred candidates possess experience with U.S. NRC construction permit and operating license applications, knowledge of high‑temperature gas reactor and small modular reactor technologies, familiarity with U.S. NRC and DOE regulatory requirements, and ability to analyze regulatory legislation and policy documents.
Compensation is presented as a base‑salary range that varies by level and location: Level III $84,075–$140,125, Level IV $102,825–$171,375, and Level V $125,700–$209,500.
