The apprenticeship is based in Caister on Sea, Great Yarmouth and surrounding areas, with a start date in June 2026. The starting salary is £18,000, rising to £23,500 in the second year. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
As a Treatment Technician Apprentice you will split your time between college coursework and practical training on Anglian Water sites, supporting the wastewater recycling process that collects, treats, and safely returns water to rivers and seas. Anglian Water is proud of its apprenticeship programme, with over 87 % of apprentices remaining after ten years.
The role is hands‑on and takes place outdoors in all weather conditions, offering varied and rewarding tasks. Upon qualification you will join a 24/7 standby rota because the position is essential to continuous water treatment operations.
Applicants should have GCSEs (or Level 2 Functional Skills) in English, Maths and Science, or predicted grades if exams are pending. A genuine interest in the water sector, strong communication skills, a team‑oriented attitude and willingness to work outside are essential. Those without a full UK driving licence must obtain one by the end of the second programme year (or by the appropriate age deadline).
Applications close on Friday 6 February 2026. Candidates must submit a CV and answer five screening questions; a cover letter is recommended. Shortlisted applicants may be invited to a site tour and an in‑person assessment centre in Norwich on 12 March 2026. Successful hires will undergo standard employment checks, including references, driving licence verification, DBS and right‑to‑work checks, with data handled according to Anglian Water’s privacy notice.
The apprenticeship package includes a mentor and a full support network, paid holidays, private healthcare, pension contributions, and discounts for gym and retail. You will work towards nationally recognised qualifications without incurring student debt, and the company is committed to diversity, offering adjustments for disabilities and encouraging applicants from all backgrounds.
