Description

The successful candidate will manage full‑cycle hourly and salary payroll across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with strict deadlines. Responsibilities include entering payroll data, auditing external inputs, researching issues, and handling related payroll accounting duties while collaborating with Payroll IT Support, Human Resources, and other cross‑functional teams.

• Process biweekly payroll for multiple legal entities (salary and hourly) and ensure CBA compliance.
• Collect and verify time data from union and non‑union locations.
• Manage employee status changes, including new hires, leaves, terminations, and promotions.
• Process garnishments, union dues, and WSIB/WCB remittances.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries promptly.
• Prepare payroll journal entries, reports, and support finance and HR teams.
• Reconcile benefit programs and monthly government remittance balances.
• Participate in payroll system testing, upgrades, and year‑end statutory filings.
• Identify continuous‑improvement opportunities and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with federal, provincial, and local payroll legislation.

Requirements

• 4+ years payroll experience; PCP certification is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of payroll, HR, and finance best practices.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; bilingual English/French preferred.
• Proficient with Ceridian Dayforce, Workday, ADP, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Analytical, problem‑solving, detail‑oriented with independent and creative thinking.
• Customer‑service mindset with ability to explain payroll information to employees.
• Planning and organizational skills to manage competing priorities within tight timelines.
• US payroll experience is an asset.
