The manager will lead a team of eight technical‑services professionals across the Kyoto campus, overseeing all building‑systems operations to ensure they run efficiently, safely, and cost‑effectively. The role requires partnering with vendors, driving continuous improvement, risk management, and supporting local and regional initiatives. Coaching, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative environment are core expectations.
Key responsibilities include prioritising mechanical, electrical, plumbing and civil works, maintaining visibility of maintenance, inspections and downtime, and implementing cost‑saving and energy programmes. Planning duties cover budgeting, contract management, inventory control, audits focused on cost reduction, risk and energy management, and accurate data reporting. The manager will also build strong client relationships, acting as the go‑to person for technical‑services queries and ensuring client expectations are consistently met.

The position requires 12–15 years of engineering or technical‑services experience in a facilities‑management setting, a strong knowledge of occupational‑safety requirements, and preferably a degree or professional qualification in engineering. Strong technical expertise, excellent people skills, attention to detail, analytical ability, and superior organisational and time‑management capabilities are essential.
