The Senior Counsel will serve as a strategic legal partner across both hardware and software business lines, reporting to the VP of Legal, People, and Policy. The role accelerates execution company‑wide, manages complex commercial negotiations, builds infrastructure for a maturing legal function, and guides informed business‑risk decisions as the company scales residential energy solutions. The ideal candidate embraces the start‑up culture, learns new legal areas, and wears multiple hats when needed.
In this position, the Senior Counsel will lead commercial negotiations, standardize global terms, oversee contract lifecycle management, and act as a high‑autonomy legal lead for commercial teams while partnering with finance, HR, and engineering. The role also provides generalist legal support on corporate governance, employment law, and intellectual property as issues arise.
Candidates must hold a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, have significant experience at a top‑tier Big Law firm, and hold an active bar admission (California preferred). They should demonstrate a proven track record in complex commercial contracting and risk management, strong business judgment, and the ability to work independently with senior leadership.
