The Purchasing Agent oversees the development, negotiation, and execution of division sourcing agreements for designated spend categories and creates and maintains material take‑offs. The role also supports the VP of Purchasing by managing the department’s community timeline and supervising workflow within the division.
Key duties include selecting and pre‑qualifying subcontractors, reviewing site development plans and specifications, and preparing bid packages with scopes of work and payment schedules. The agent monitors trade‑partner performance, updates contracts and purchasing systems such as BuildPro and JDE, and implements sourcing strategies to reduce costs while maintaining positive supplier relationships. Additional responsibilities involve ensuring prompt progress payments, auditing discrepancies, and participating in monthly budget meetings.
Candidates must have a high‑school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of purchasing experience, preferably with a national home builder. Proficiency in reading residential blueprints, Microsoft Excel, and knowledge of nationwide construction practices are required. A valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and the ability to multitask under tight deadlines are also essential.
Lennar offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a 1 : 1 company match up to 5 %, paid parental leave, an adoption assistance program up to $30,000, and up to three weeks of vacation annually plus holidays, sick leave and personal days. Additional perks include home‑purchase discounts, a new‑hire referral bonus, and an inclusive culture supported by the Everyone’s Included Advisory Council.
