  • Produce deliverables that meet or exceed client expectations
  • Contribute to the business development aspects of growing and supporting GPI’s transportation, urban mobility, and urban planning sectors
  • Support projects that include transportation planning, urban mobility, public transit, pedestrians and bicycles, transit-oriented developments, and downtown revitalization
  • Develop scopes of work, budgets, and schedules, and manage tasks or projects
  • Lead multi-modal transportation analyses, addressing the needs of bicyclists, pedestrians, transit providers, drivers, and others
  • Support various project types, including studies, planning, design, permitting, and construction for public and private clients
  • Lead and support public and stakeholder engagement for various projects
  • Design and plan innovative transportation solutions, integrating Complete Streets concepts in both urban and suburban settings
  • Engage in all aspects of transportation planning and design processes, including analysis of site and existing conditions, conceptual ideas, and scenario development
  • Define public engagement strategies and develop and implement public engagement plans as part of a project
  • Lead and mentor junior staff on project tasks

Work Authorization

GPI seeks a senior-level transportation planner to join our New England branch. We are looking for a candidate with a high energy level, a great work ethic, and a desire to learn from and mentor others. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and an eagerness to be part of a team with an engaging and collaborative work environment. The key roles of the Senior Transportation Planner will involve leading or assisting in delivering multiple project types, including urban mobility studies and designs, placemaking, and public engagement across New England.

In compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, we will hire only U.S. citizens and aliens lawfully authorized to work in the United States (if the position is or will be one that is subject to U.S. law). Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is typically not available for entry-level positions. GPI participates in E-Verify.   • Ten or more years of experience in transportation planning, with an emphasis on urban mobility
  • Five or more years of experience as a task manager or project manager
  • Experience with interactive communication tools, including project surveys, infographics, StoryMaps, project websites, and interactive feedback maps
  • Excellent written, visual, and oral communication skills
  • Experience leading and facilitating public meetings, open houses, and pop-up events
  • Experience working with transportation data resource platforms, including StreetLight and Replica
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams on complex, multi-faceted projects
  • A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, urban or community planning, or a closely related field is required. A master's degree is a plus
  • Experience leading successful and inclusive community engagement processes in diverse, multicultural urban neighborhoods, including coordinating communication in multiple languages
  • DOT experience is highly preferred
  • AICP registration is preferred
