The Material Engineer role, based on‑site in Dubai, ensures that all materials used in projects comply with project specifications and are approved by relevant authorities. This position reports to the Resident Engineer and plays a critical part in maintaining quality and schedule compliance.
Key responsibilities include reviewing and approving contractor material proposals, overseeing daily site activities, conducting factory and supplier inspections, following up on testing and approvals, monitoring material delivery accuracy, and preparing detailed reports for the Resident Engineer.
- Review and approve contractor’s proposed materials and methods.
- Prepare daily Material Engineer diary.
- Oversee contractor’s daily activities and on‑site performance.
- Conduct factory visits and supplier plant inspections.
- Follow up on testing and approvals from relevant authorities.
- Review contractor testing requests and completed reports.
- Approve contractor submissions as delegated by the Resident Engineer.
- Monitor material delivery performance and accuracy on site.
- Coordinate schedule, sequence, and work methods with contractor supervisors.
- Ensure contractor adheres to project schedule.
- Perform continuous field inspections and consult with resident and contractor engineers.
- Prepare written and oral reports on contractual and procedural matters.

Candidates must hold a BSc from a recognized university, possess Dubai Central Laboratory approval, and have at least ten years of experience in design, construction, and supervision of water pipelines, sewerage systems, rising mains, and pumping stations. Thorough knowledge of Dubai’s infrastructure networks and extensive experience with ISO 9000 quality inspections are also required.
- Hold a BSc degree from a recognized university.
- Be a holder of Dubai Central Laboratory approval.
- Minimum 10 years experience in water pipeline, sewerage, rising mains, and pumping station projects.
- Deep knowledge of Dubai’s existing infrastructure networks.
- Extensive experience with ISO 9000 quality inspection systems.
