Surveyor A Senior

Description

• Detect dynamic dimensional changes in horizontal distances and elevations, in monitoring programs.
• Using available reference data, such as engineering and land survey drawings, plans, maps and plats, with a knowledge of surveying mathematics, calculate and determine measurements to create or reestablish locations for survey points to:
• Participates in all phases of field survey work, including directing and instructing
• Ascertain and verify property boundary lines, and corner monument positions.
• Responsible for safety of self and personnel under employee’s direction, by instruction and enforcement of applicable safety rules and procedures. Insure safe operation of survey work in the field by conducting job site safety audits and tailboard talks.
• As necessary, employee may perform such physical activities as required, including, carrying instruments, and equipment: placing points, (stakes, lath, rebar, pk-nail, etc.), by use of basic hand tools, or other devices, to denote location (and/or elevation) for property/boundary lines, (and/or structures); dig out buried monuments/points; clear line of sight by brushing or removing vegetation.
• Control construction activities.
• Obtain design data and installation record documentation
• Communicate and coordinate survey activities, with various SRP internal clients and external customers, and involved third parties, such as municipalities and private land owners. Participate in pre-construction, estimations, and, design review meetings, as necessary. Maintain timely communication with the Survey Division scheduler, and, coordinator, and/or supervisor, about change and/or developing conditions.
• Assist and participate in training of other Survey Division personnel in surveying methods, techniques, operations and associated technical skills.
• Responsible for the function and maintenance of all survey instrumentation and equipment assigned, including actual operation of equipment when required.
• Responsible for the completeness, correctness, precision and accuracy of record measurement information collected; and also for the preparation of additional notes, descriptions, reports, digital imagery and sketches, as necessary, to assist others in the use of assembled survey data.

Requirements

• For Surveyor B-1: A minimum of 3 years’ experience in engineering surveying and land surveying work, and satisfactory demonstration of competency in: the Fundamentals of Land Survey Measurements, the Fundamentals of Land Surveying Research and technical math, such as Algebra and Trigonometry. To qualify candidates must have at least 1 year of applicable land surveying experience within the past 3 years.
• For Surveyor A-SR: A minimum of 1 years’ experience as a Surveyor B-SR, supervisors’ approval and the satisfactory completion of 200 hours in each the following areas: distribution power surveying, high voltage transmission topo / construction surveying, substation topo / construction surveying, water topo / construction surveying and 16 hours Safety of Dams experience. The experience in each category will be under the direct supervision of a Surveyor A-SR.
• Employee must work safely and efficiently in the performance of their job duties. Must maintain effective working relationships with other employees, customers and the public. Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, and have the ability to accurately and legibly complete applicable paper work. May be required to work a reasonable amount of overtime.
• For Surveyor B-SR: A minimum of 4 years’ experience in engineering surveying and land surveying work. Satisfactory demonstration of competency in the Fundamentals of Land Survey Measurements, in the Fundamentals of Land Surveying Research, and in technical math, such as Algebra and Trigonometry. To qualify candidates must have at least 1 year of applicable land surveying experience within the past 4 years.
