The Fabric Maintenance Engineer in Reading will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance across the site. The role includes general carpentry, fire‑door and alarm maintenance, AHU cleaning, basic plumbing, and a range of repairs to walls, floors, ceilings, and furnishings.
You will follow the company’s preventative‑maintenance (PPM) schedules, produce accurate technical reports, use provided technology systems to stay compliant, and communicate clearly with the team and clients. Out‑of‑hours call‑out support, timesheet accuracy, and participation in meetings are also required, as is managing sub‑contractors and adhering to health, safety, environmental and quality legislation.
Essential qualifications include a Fabric Engineering apprenticeship (or equivalent), C&G Pts. 1 & 2, and proven post‑apprenticeship practical experience. Strong communication, interpersonal, IT and report‑writing skills, the ability to work flexible hours, overtime and under pressure, and a commitment to high‑quality service are also required.
