Operators take ownership of production assets, operating them safely according to established procedures, guidelines, and industry best practices. They perform daily production, preventive maintenance, and process data collection, report safety or quality issues, and ensure shift production targets are achieved without compromising quality. Additional duties include issuing corrective action requests or hazard reports, providing progress updates, attending meetings, and contributing to investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key activities involve transferring finished products into containers of various sizes, filling approved batches ranging from 1 gallon to 5,000 gallons, measuring yields, checking containers for leaks, completing batch tickets, labeling and staging containers for shipment, and performing equipment cleaning and filter disposal. Operators also handle housekeeping tasks and any other duties required to complete the production process.
Candidates should have prior manufacturing experience, preferably in paint production, and be able to read and follow safety instructions. Required qualifications include forklift certification, accurate labeling and weighing skills, the ability to lift containers up to 75 lb and drums up to 900 lb, strong interpersonal skills, independence, multitasking ability, and a commitment to safety leadership. The role also demands physical stamina for standing, walking, and working in hot, cold, or inclement weather conditions.
