Risk, cost, and change management are critical; the Superintendent supports planning of project general conditions, understands financial goals, and works with project management to assess schedule and cost impacts of changes. Participation in buy‑out meetings with subcontractors and vendors is required to analyze scopes and contractual commitments.
Ownership of the project schedule is essential. The Superintendent creates, interprets, and communicates the schedule in partnership with project management, utilizes FCC standard scheduling tools such as phasing plans, visual schedules, critical path analysis, OPS, and production tracking, and drives a lean construction process to meet or exceed milestones.
The Superintendent role requires a minimum of five years of commercial or industrial construction experience, including at least three years leading a project site. Preference is given to candidates with backgrounds in industrial, distribution, manufacturing, or cold‑storage projects, and the position involves nationwide travel.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong builder expertise, applying constructability knowledge and the core principles of construction management across trades and scopes of work. Responsibilities include overseeing scheduling, production, logistics, quality, and safety on the assigned project and collaborating with the project team to prepare and present all project review meetings.
Healthy skills include strong negotiation abilities to reach mutually beneficial agreements, building trusted relationships with owners through timely and consistent communication, and delivering effective, persuasive presentations that are well‑structured and supported by visual aids.
