The Health Services Administrator must maintain collaborative relationships with facility, nursing, and contract staff, apply corporate and correctional policies while exercising independent judgment, and assist in developing, interpreting, and enforcing medical unit policies.
They will evaluate and recommend ways to improve operational efficiency and cost‑effectiveness of health‑related services, communicate clearly and diplomatically with administration, staff, inmates, visitors, and the public, and complete annual written evaluations of supervised staff.
The role includes ensuring adequate staffing, providing coverage during short‑staffing periods, and performing nursing duties such as executing physician orders, assisting with examinations, dispensing medications, treating emergencies, and screening patients for referrals.
Qualifications require a graduate degree in nursing or a healthcare/business field (advanced degree preferred), three years of relevant healthcare management experience, a valid driver’s license, knowledge of correctional custody methods, and a minimum age of 18.
