Company
Overview
Founded in 1961 by visionary New Zealand engineers, the company set out to build smarter and bolder than before.
From its roots in pipeline and marine works, it expanded through Asia, Australia and the Middle East in its early decades.
It went public in the 1980s, then refocused on core engineering after the financial crash reshaped its strategy.
Acquired by Aveng in 2003, the firm rode the mining and infrastructure boom, delivering large-scale energy and resource projects.
It tackles complex assignments—from metro tunnels and LNG facilities to desalination plants and cruise terminals.
Its specialties include building, civil works, electrical, fabrication, marine, mechanical, pipeline, rail, tunnel and underground construction.
Unusual facts: it’s built pipelines over 1,300 mm in diameter, pulled marine pipelines offshore, and completed award‑winning light‑rail and ferry wharf projects.
