In this role you will be at the forefront of the UK housing and public sector net‑zero transition, shaping net‑zero energy and ESG strategies and supporting delivery of innovative projects such as the Social Housing Retrofit Accelerator. The exact responsibilities will align with your skills, ranging from strategy development to project delivery.
- Line‑manage junior consultants and drive their professional development.
- Develop business cases for new service areas and expand client, sector, and technology coverage.
- Lead project delivery, handling client liaison, resource allocation, and budget control.
- Guide social landlords and public sector bodies through all phases of net‑zero strategy and investment programmes.
- Analyse housing asset data to benchmark energy performance and create investment scenarios aligned with net‑zero targets.
- Establish ESG measurement and reporting frameworks for social housing providers.
- Deliver industry assistance programmes such as the Social Housing Retrofit Accelerator, building provider capacity.
- Identify new business opportunities and contribute to bid development.

Our specialist Housing Sustainability and Net Zero team is expanding to meet rising demand from social housing providers and public sector organisations. We seek individuals with proven experience supporting housing sustainability programmes to aid investment planning and delivery on the net‑zero carbon agenda. Senior Consultants come from energy and sustainability consultancies, engineering firms, local authorities, or housing associations and have led housing or real estate sustainability projects, including retrofit experience and possibly line‑management duties.
We are looking for a positive, creative self‑starter who works independently yet thrives in a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates dependable, inspiring teamwork.
- Degree or equivalent experience in sustainability/environment with a housing or built‑environment focus.
- Proven systematic project‑management experience on complex, multi‑stakeholder programmes.
- Ability to interpret data to drive decarbonisation and asset‑planning decisions.
- Deep expertise in net‑zero and ESG policy/strategy for the social housing sector.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Effective problem‑solving and client‑focused relationship management.
- Experience in social‑landlord asset management, finance, or retrofit capital projects.
- Background in construction contract management or new‑build housing development.
- Knowledge of sustainable procurement and supply‑chain assessment.
- Training as Retrofit Coordinator or familiarity with PAS2035.
- Experience in business development, bid writing and team leadership.
- Understanding of sustainability reporting frameworks such as GHG Protocol, CDP, or TCFD.
