Tasks

The Assistant Controller will handle the day-to-day accounting operations that keep the business running smoothly — from construction billing and project job setup to change order tracking, reconciliations, and month-end close. You’ll also oversee payroll for 66 employees and maintain a strong connection between project management and accounting functions. -Assist the Controller with audits, process improvements, and financial analysis. -Collaborate with Project Managers and leadership to maintain timely, accurate financial reporting. -Support month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations and journal entries. -Manage A/R billing for construction projects and maintain job cost accuracy. -Administer bi-weekly payroll for approximately 66 employees. -Process change orders and update project financials as needed. -Set up new jobs in the accounting system, ensuring budgets and codes are correct.

What You Bring

-Excellent organizational and communication skills; detail-oriented and dependable. -Solid knowledge of GAAP and general ledger principles. -Proficiency with Sage, Viewpoint, or other ERP accounting systems. -Experience processing payroll for mid-sized teams (50+ employees). -3+ years of construction accounting experience (mechanical, electrical, or GC preferred). -Strong understanding of job cost accounting and WIP reporting.
