The role is for a Software Engineer in the Technology Solutions team of the Engineering Digital Practice, based across several UK locations. The engineer will design, develop, and implement applications that enhance project delivery and operational efficiency for engineering and transportation projects.

Successful candidates will demonstrate sound judgement, reliability, and the ability to meet technical output standards. They must communicate confidently with clients and stakeholders, show strong organisational and problem‑solving skills, and proactively learn new technologies while contributing to bids and pricing estimates.
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline (or Civil Engineering with software experience) is required, along with professional software development experience, preferably in the engineering sector. Key technical competencies include C#, Python, web technologies, modern frameworks (Angular, React, or Blazor), SQL/Azure database management, Agile and DevOps practices, API integration, and experience with Microsoft Power Platform.
Desirable qualifications include a Master’s degree, professional accreditation with institutions such as IET, ICE, or BCS, and certifications in cloud technologies, Agile or Scrum. Knowledge of transportation or engineering applications and experience developing plugins or geometry‑based CAD solutions are also advantageous.

- Professional experience in software development, preferably within the engineering sector.
- Proficient in C#, Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS and modern web frameworks (Angular, React, Blazor).
- Skilled in SQL database design and Azure cloud data services.
- Familiar with Agile methodologies and DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to automate workflows and integrate applications via APIs (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform for dashboards, low‑code apps, and workflow automation.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline (desirable).
- Professional accreditation with IET, ICE, BCS or similar bodies (desirable).
- Cloud certifications (Azure) and Agile/Scrum certifications (desirable).
- Knowledge of transportation or engineering applications and experience with CAD geometry APIs (desirable).
