Use and instruct others to properly use Total Stations, Data Collector, GNSS, and other specialized survey equipment to collect data.
Plan and perform an increased variety of field surveys within the defined project scope and budget, using the most efficient methods, and in accordance with applicable standards of practice.
Prepare accurate, detailed field notes and reports of daily activity in a timely manner.
Interact with project site supervisors and client field representatives.
Maintain, transport, and operate the instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing the job site for a survey.
Perform in-field calculations for construction stakeout and various land surveys with moderate assistance from office support team.
This position may include work as a leader of one, two or three-person crews.
Mentor field survey staff to facilitate advancement.
Operate and maintain the survey vehicle in accordance with the Company vehicle manual.
Adhere to corporate and client Health and Safety program(s) and all applicable SOPs.
Electronically transfer field data files, photos and associated forms to office team daily.
Prepare or receive from the PM, the Health, and Safety Checklists. Review and instruct other crew personnel on all safety hazards, PPE, etc. associated with the work being performed.
Survey projects include design surveys, right-of-way surveys, topographic surveys, aerial ground control, boundary and ALTA/NSPS surveys.
Prepare cut sheets for construction assignments as needed. Review and determine the validity of data collection.
May supervise and direct other survey crew members.

Demonstrate initiative in analyzing and developing solutions to issues encountered on projects.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record required. MVR will be checked and monitored.
Experience with or the ability to learn the use of 3D scanners.
Prior crew chief experience is a plus.
Candidates must be proficient with data collectors, data collection techniques, robotic instruments, conventional field note-keeping, total stations and leveling.
Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
High school diploma/GED is required.
