Description

The role involves engineering of remote refueling tools and inspection equipment, requiring coordination with multiple internal teams and adherence to rigorous safety and quality standards.

• Develop creative solutions to complex engineering problems.
• Integrate cross‑functional engineering input to design remote servicing tools and inspection equipment.
• Prepare, check, and review engineering reports, specifications, drawings, and calculations for tooling systems.
• Collaborate with NSSS component design, civil/structural, systems engineering, and operations teams to meet functional and performance requirements.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, criteria, and work sequences for tool handling.
• Support procurement, fabrication, and testing of equipment designs.
• Apply creativity and innovation to improve equipment efficiency and reliability.
• Plan, organize, and track project timelines efficiently.
• Build trust and teamwork across the organization.
• Uphold NuScale safety culture and model safe behavior.
• Follow quality‑assurance regulations (10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, NQA‑1).

Requirements

Engineers are expected to apply strong analytical and communication skills, innovate solutions, and maintain high standards of dependability and teamwork within NuScale’s safety‑focused culture.

Applicants must hold a relevant engineering degree, possess several years of professional experience designing mechanical handling systems, and meet DOE eligibility requirements; a PE license is desirable.

• Hold a BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Nuclear Engineering (ABET preferred); PE license desirable.
• Possess at least 5 years of experience designing mechanical handling equipment; eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810.
