Ensure the work meets schedules and coordinate assignments with other disciplines
Work efficiently with project managers, engineers, designers, and drafters in the preparation of deliverables to Ausenco and customer standards.
Conduct business development and prepare/review engineering proposals based on clients’ RFPs/RFQs
Review and approve vendor drawings and resolve vendor related issues and witness factory acceptance tests.
Supervise and direct engineers, designers, and draftspeople in preparing design documents, including drawings, specifications, schedules, and estimates
Verify, correct, modify, and authorize electrical technical documents and drawings
Identify resource gaps and undertake associated training and recruitment activities at all levels within the discipline to fill such gaps.
Perform, review, and approve engineering studies and calculations including arc-flash and coordination, power flow, short-circuit studies and voltage drop for electrical distribution systems.
Attend coordination meetings and coordinate design with other engineering disciplines
Lead and contribute to the execution of multiple projects from conceptual stages to detail design stages, through to construction and commissioning for our clients in the Mining sector
Prepare, review, and approve engineering and design deliverables including but not limited to medium & low voltage power distribution single line diagrams, power and control schemes, equipment and cable tray layouts, cable schedules, cable and conduit routings, grounding, lightning, and lighting layouts.
Provide technical support to other engineers and designers and mentor junior engineers, designers, and draftspeople
Reporting to the director of engineering, you will lead, manage and expand the electrical engineering department
Review and approve instrumentation-related engineering deliverables, i.e. instrument indexes, installation details, location drawings, datasheets, wiring drawings, loop drawings, P&ID's, material requisitions, evaluation of alternatives and selection of instruments, calculations (control valve, flow elements, pressure safety valves), document control logs, bills of material, instrument change approvals and construction work package.
Prepare, review, and approve engineering specifications and technical bid evaluations for equipment such as power transformers, medium, and low voltage switchgear, medium voltage starters, motor control centers, variable frequency drives and large synchronous and induction motors.
Review and approve controls-related engineering deliverables, i.e., logic drawings, termination/ wiring diagrams, block diagrams, panel layouts, control system topology/ control system architecture, control narratives, and cable schedules.
Manage complex technical discussions with third parties (customer, suppliers, and regulators) to facilitate appropriate technical decisions.
Plan, schedule and determine workforce requirements for multiple concurrent projects

Familiarity with hardware requirements of PLC, SCADA and DCS control systems is an asset.
Registered as a P.Eng. in the Province of British Columbia or eligible to be registered.
Proficient with the ETAP and Microsoft Office® package
5 or more years’ experience in a leadership and management role with the proven ability to lead, manage, motivate and influence employees at all levels.
Experience leading multiple projects simultaneously or a single project of a major size and scope
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from a Canada or internationally recognized University.
Minimum of 15 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in a mineral processing, or similar industrial setting.
Experience in controls and commissioning is an asset
Familiarity with international standards (e.g., NEC, IEC) is advantageous
Knowledge of electrical and controls design areas including high voltage substations and utility interfaces is an asset.
Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical solutions to audiences that include management, co-workers, clients, vendors, and contractors in a multi-disciplined environment.
A thorough understanding of power-related studies (Load Flow, Power Factor Correction, Protective Device Coordination, Short Circuit, Arc Flash, and Ground Grid, as a minimum) is key.
A successful track record working on medium/large engineering projects within an EPC environment
Previous business development experience with new and existing clients is an asset.
Familiarity with industry codes and standards such as CEC, NFPA, NEMA and API.
