The division supports the DOE Environmental Management Directorate and the National Nuclear Security Administration, providing multi‑disciplinary design teams that develop facilities and systems for treating, storing, disposing of nuclear waste, and safely handling nuclear material.
- Convert engineer designs into detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings using AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Produce scaled layout drawings that relate proposed installations to existing facilities and specifications.
- Participate in on‑site walk‑downs with senior engineers to gather information for design projects.
- Design power distribution, lighting, and control systems in collaboration with electrical designers and engineers.
- Prepare design media for procurement and implementation of software, instrumentation, and control system platforms.
- Engage in peer learning through Sargent & Lundy’s Communities of Practice.

- Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for a government security clearance.
- Minimum of 8 years professional experience converting designs into technical drawings.
- Associate’s degree in drafting or equivalent technical experience (high school diploma plus drafting coursework acceptable).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation; CAD certification is a valued asset.
- Experience with BIM modeling (Revit) or Navisworks is advantageous.
- Familiarity with document‑management tools such as ProjectWise or SmartPlant Foundation.
- Understanding of NFPA/NEC codes and experience with medium‑ and low‑voltage distribution, transformers, generators, motors, communication systems, one‑line, loop, cable and conduit diagrams.
- Effective written and verbal communication and detail‑oriented work approach.

The compensation range for this position is $63,480 – $99,080, with transparent base salary or hourly rates, a full benefits package and eligibility for discretionary annual bonuses.
