This role is responsible for onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of all drivers and helpers. It establishes and maintains positive relationships with front‑line employees and spends most of the day in the field with them.
The incumbent ensures new frontline employees receive the tools, instruction, and feedback needed for successful daily duties and meets with them each day to maintain consistent communication during onboarding. Ongoing responsibilities include providing regular touchpoints, reviewing best practices to boost performance, and supporting employees’ career goals. The role also identifies improvement opportunities, partners with staff to drive success, and conducts coaching conversations while prioritizing safety. Additionally, the position leads by example, teaches the WM Way, investigates injuries, maintains regulatory records, audits route documentation, and visits customer sites to resolve safety concerns.
The job operates in a hybrid environment, alternating between office settings and plant/field locations, and routinely involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines.
Required qualifications include an accredited associate’s degree or a high school diploma combined with two years of relevant experience, being at least 18 years old, legal eligibility to work in the country, and a valid driver’s license. Preferred candidates have successfully completed the WM Operations Manager Trainee program.
