Key responsibilities include designing, deploying, and maintaining secure cloud environments in AWS and Azure that comply with DoD security frameworks, configuring IAM and RBAC, and managing cloud security groups and firewalls. The engineer will optimize networking (VPC peering, VPNs, cross‑domain connectivity), develop Infrastructure‑as‑Code solutions with Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates, and monitor Kubernetes and other workloads using GovCloud‑native observability tools. Additional duties involve reconciling usage against reservations, producing cost and compliance reports, advising the government on workload placement across IL2, IL4, and IL5, provisioning shared container and storage resources, and implementing monitoring and compliance automation.
NV5 Geospatial is recruiting a Cloud Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain GovCloud‑based infrastructure on AWS and Azure for mission‑critical applications. The role supports US Southern Command remotely and requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a basic background check; while no clearance is mandatory, an active Secret or higher is preferred.
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or have five years of equivalent cloud‑engineering experience, and demonstrate strong expertise in AWS and Azure security, automation, and scalability. Required skills include IAM, RBAC, Zero‑Trust architecture, VPC networking, and IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates, as well as experience supporting ATO processes and collaborating with cybersecurity teams on FedRAMP, RMF, and DoD IL4/IL5 mandates. Preferred qualifications include AWS Solutions Architect Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect certifications, proficiency in Portuguese or Spanish, and prior work on government IT programs; an active Secret or TS/SCI clearance is advantageous but not required.
