This hybrid position offers a mix of remote and office work and provides the opportunity to lead a project team of engineers and designers in the design, modification, and analysis of electrical systems that support nuclear material processing, waste treatment, storage, disposal, and commercial nuclear power plants. The role involves challenging assignments such as designing, investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of electrical engineering issues.
The Electrical Team Lead coordinates detailed design phases for all aspects of electrical engineering work, ensuring projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget while complying with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
The Government Services Division supports DOE sites and national laboratories, providing multidisciplinary design for nuclear waste treatment, storage, disposal, and material handling, contributing to environmental cleanup and national security.
- Act as Electrical team lead coordinating detailed design phases for all electrical engineering work.
- Lead efforts to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Coordinate system design activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
- Prepare and review detailed electrical calculations (arc flash, voltage drop, fault current, lighting).
- Produce design input documentation for drawing production, including master diagrams and schematics.
- Interface with vendors to develop material and equipment purchase specifications.
- Prepare technical reports and studies that meet client and S&L format requirements.
- Perform independent reviews of calculations and drawings prepared by others.
- Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
- Share knowledge through S&L’s Communities of Practice.

The position requires U.S. citizenship, the ability to obtain government security clearances, and a BSEE degree (MSEE preferred). Candidates should have 10+ years of experience in commercial power or nuclear sectors, experience selecting equipment, preparing calculations and specifications, and at least 3 years leading engineering design teams.
- U.S. citizenship (dual citizenship not eligible) and ability to obtain US Government, DOE “Q” level, and other security clearances.
- BSEE degree from ABET‑accredited program (MSEE preferred); desire to obtain PE licensure.
- 10+ years of experience in commercial power, DOE, nuclear Navy, or NNSA electrical system design for new or modified plants.
- Experience selecting equipment, materials, control philosophy, and preparing calculations and specifications.
- Expertise in low‑voltage distribution, communication systems, equipment selection, and analytical calculations.
- Minimum 3 years leading an engineering design team through all project phases.
- Ability to serve as firm/client liaison and review design drawings created by others.
- Preferred: Professional Engineer license, construction/start‑up experience, commissioning experience.

The compensation range for this role is $116,620 to $179,890, with eligibility for discretionary bonuses and a transparent salary disclosure statement.
