Junior Engineer, Bridge Design

Description

• Conduct structural analyses of bridges.
• Prepare design calculations and detail drawings.
• Develop contract plans and specifications.
• Estimate construction costs.
• Review construction submittals.
• Perform occasional field inspections of existing structures.
• Conduct site visits to resolve construction issues.
• Apply basic structural engineering principles and techniques.
• Deliver high-quality work with attention to detail.
• Interact with PDG personnel under close supervision and training.
• Perform field inspection tasks such as climbing ladders, wading streams, and working at heights.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a working knowledge of structural concepts for bridges and highway structures. This role offers a professional office setting with occasional site visits and travel within New York State, and includes close supervision, training, and a career development plan toward a Professional Engineer license.

• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Understand structural concepts of bridges and highway structures.
• Use MS Word, Excel; proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred.
• Hold a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Possess 0–3 years of progressive engineering experience.
• Work in a professional office setting with occasional site work and travel in NY.
• Sit at a computer for prolonged periods.
• Lift up to 25 lb as needed.
