Perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and trucks to include: pavers, rollers, milling machines, dump trucks, water trucks, boot trucks, front-end loaders, scrapers, skid steers, skip loaders and motor graders. May also maintain other fleet vehicles.
Fabricate, modify and install special equipment or replacement parts using mills, lathes, welders, torch sets, plasma cutters and metal cutting saws.
Prepare work orders and cost material estimates.
Works directly with Sunland supervisors to receive and prepare preventative maintenance (PM) work orders; relays PM work orders, assignments, messages and information to and from Mechanics.
May maintain inventory and order fuel, parts, tools, equipment and supplies.
Directs all employees to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety guidelines at all times.
Serves as a safety ambassador by complying with federal, state and local laws, as well as Company safety policy, enforces safe work practices, and proactively identifies and remedies worksite hazards.
Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections.

Conducts Safety Meetings to include daily PTP & weekly Tailgate Topics.
Work closely with all shop employees to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Must operate equipment, machinery and other tools in compliance with safety guidelines.
Perform routine maintenance checks and adjustments on such things as fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires and clutches. Change filters, and oil and lubricate vehicles and motor driven equipment.

To ensure Sunland Asphalt complies with this federal mandate, all 10K-CMV and CDL drivers will be required to complete and pass an English proficiency assessment.
Diagnose hydraulic systems.
Must be fluent in English, i.e., must be able to speak, read and write English.
Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and electrical systems.
Proficient in troubleshooting machine systems to include: hydraulics, power trains and engines.
This position is considered a safety-sensitive position and is subject to the company's drug and alcohol policy, as well as all OHSA regulations.
Must be able to work outside, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures.
Proficient in component replacement with equipment such as, transmissions, engines, differentials, torque convertors and final drives.
Medical certification required.
Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check is required.
Scanner diagnostics a plus: OTC vehicle/CAT ET.
A current driver's license is required. A CDL license is preferred and may even be required for some departments/divisions.
