Senior Quantity Surveyor

Description

• Create a schedule of works, Budget or quantify the Bill of Quantities if and when required
• Review the budget/allowances with the relevant Project Manager to identify if the construction period or costs can be reduced
• Attend site and Client meetings
• Attend sub-contractor pre-contract meetings along with the Contracts Manager to ensure prospective sub-contractors are fully compliant
• Manage sub-contractors once appointed including measurement of sub-contract works, check and approve sub-contract claims for payment, liaise with sub-contractors to review performance and settlement of sub-contract Final Accounts
• Work on a Traditional drawings and specification tenders
• Liaise Sub-contractors list to ensure competence and resource are consistent with the scope/scale of the contract
• Careful review of tender documents to identify exact requirements and identify potential risks
• Prepare and manage labour, plant & materials project budget costs
• Issue out enquiries together with relevant drawings, prelim elements and specifications
• Work with the Commercial Manager and help manage a team of other Quantity Surveyors offering support and guidance where required and assist in the delivery of the contract
• Prepare monthly forecast reports

The successful candidate will need to undertake security clearance checks. Security Clearance is a mandatory requirement for this role.

• Qualified to HND or Degree Level in Quantity Surveying or extensive experience
• Self-motivated with a flexible approach to work, and capable of working to challenging deadlines
• Mobile and available to travel between sites to meet business needs.
• Knowledge of application of payment mechanisms
• Proficient in Microsoft Office packages including Excel/ spreadsheets
• Financial and commercial acumen and awareness., including current contract legislation.
• Experience of negotiating contracts terms to successful close out
• Excellent numerical and communication skills
• Excellent understanding of Projects
• Analytical and a proactive approach to problem solve
• Knowledge of contract law and demonstrable knowledge of NEC suite of contracts
• Able to evaluate tender submissions and produce analytical reports.
